Join Date: Feb 2011 Location: Blackpool Posts: 590 | Tips for drawing tattoo script I really struggle with drawing up tattoo script- no matter what I try I can't seem to get a nice flow with lettering, or for it to match up size-wise. It always ends up looking more like a child's handwriting! I'm currently designing a piece which includes script and could really use some pointers. If anyone has any advice/tips it would be very much appreciated. Thanks |

You would be suprised how hard I am finding it to find some one with a nice style for a chest piece so I don't think your alone mate I want "make your own luck" if you fancy something to practice on |

I did these up real quick, hope they sorta help. 1- Draw 2 curved parallel lines. about 2/3rds up draw a third line. 2-lightly write in your letters. When I first started coin script I used a lot of font references for my letters. 3- Go through and darken in your letters. Your down strokes should be thicker than your up strokes. 4- Add any fancy swirls or details you would like to have. Hope that helps ya out. |

Thankyou Dubart- just had a go using this method and although my drawing's not perfect by any means, there's a definite improvement |

Tracing Script or any font repeatedly will help you alot as well. Try not to press down too hard when you write as well, start off with a light hand and you'll get better results in the end. |
